Review: The Ice Princess

The Ice Princess The Ice Princess by Elizabeth Hoyt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

description

In my opinion Elizabeth Hoyt can do no wrong. Her historical romances are just the best! This one is a short story tagged onto the end of the Princes Trilogy. It has no real connection to it other than featuring a character mentioned in the series. Mainly in the first book The Raven Prince (which you should definitely read).

This story is super short, even shorter than it’s page count implies. Due to it’s length the instalove feels a bit heavy and the ending is pretty rushed but it’s a great story if you’re familiar with the character.

Review: Three Bedrooms, One Corpse

Three Bedrooms, One Corpse Three Bedrooms, One Corpse by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

description

Even though, again, Roe seems to be passively involved with the murder mystery until the end of the book, it’s still very enjoyable. It’s almost more of a small town story with murders instead of a cosy mystery.

The synopsis makes it sound like Roe is being chased by the killer but if she hadn’t of found the body I doubt she would have been on his radar at all! Her only real involvement comes at the end of the book.

Despite the lack of sleuthing it’s an entertaining and easy read.

Review: A Bone to Pick

A Bone to Pick A Bone to Pick by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one is a little bit funny… Pretty much everything changes for Roe at the beginning of the book which makes all the developments of the first book obsolete. It’s almost like a new first book in a series.

As for the mystery, Roe doesn’t actually do much investigating but her character is strengthened which I think will make for better subsequent books in the series.

Review: Mystery Woman, The

Mystery Woman, The Mystery Woman, The by Amanda Quick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

They say the word ‘psychical’ a bit too much for me but that’s really my only complaint. The story is very intriguing and engaging. I just loved all of the Egyptian elements intertwined with psychic abilities.

The romance flows very nicely alongside the mystery as well even though Beatrice starts out as Joshua’s suspect.
