I’m so torn on my feelings for this one! On one hand I enjoyed it and on the other it annoyed the shit out of me for glorifying guys being sluts and girls being virgins.
Ignoring that perceived aspect of it, it’s a sold contemporary romance. There are lots of steamy scenes between the main characters but what’s really great is The Just Us League Georgie forms with her sister and friend. It’s a element I’d love to see in more contemporary romances but I could do without the slut virgin pairing. Why do so many romances have that pairing?!

Review: Hate Notes

This started out really well but lost momentum around the middle. Reed seemed to undergo a personality change completely losing his ‘jerk’ status which is fine really but he should have grown into not transition all of a sudden. My guess is the authors couldn’t really commit to the negative aspects of his character.

I will admit to expecting something similar to The Hating Game based on the synopsis but it’s nowhere near as good.

Review: Truth or Beard

This was so good!! Definitely one for the reread list!
I’m finding it hard to categorise it in terms of theme. It’s a bit ‘enemies to lovers’ and a bit ‘friends to lovers’ but it’s entirely toe-curlingly good. Reid is so witty and humorous without ever passing into ridiculous and the small-town romance manages to be sweet and steamy.

Have you ever seen someone and thought to yourself, Whoa, he’s hot! I’d like to screw his brains out. And then, you talk to the guy and realize someone already has?

It’s on the darker side of Urban Fantasy but the rockabilly elements bring a touch of life and fun to it. It really made me pine for my 20’s and Hell Bunny dresses.

Review: One Foot in the Grave

One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

The book with the infamous chapter 32.

“You know that old saying. Once you go dead, no one’s better in bed.”

This is the book where I got my momentum with the series going on my first read. It reeled me in (before I read chapter 32 mind!) with the strengthening of Cat’s character which I think was a little overshadowed by Bones in the first book. We get a real understanding of who she is here and how powerful they are as a couple. Not just in terms of kicking vampire butt! There’s a lot of development of Bones’ character as well especially of his past.

As for the plot, it’s much stronger than the first book. Ir raises the stakes and connects the characters in surprising ways.

“And there is my payment the rubies in your cheeks. Are you properly scandalized by your wicked behavior? If you were Catholic, you’d singe the ears of the priest you confessed to. Do you remember making me swear to repeat all those naughty actions agian, no matter what you said this morning?”
Now that he brought it up, I did recall saying that. Great Betrayed by my own immorality.
“God, Bones…some of that was depraved.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment.” He closed the distance between us.”I love you. Don’t be ashamed of anything we did, even if your prudery is on life support.”
